The 3rd annual Dixie Pieces "Beat the Blues Crop" is right around the corner! Are you ready for some great challenges, fun games, and a great prize? Are you needing a weekend of scrappin'? After all, what's better than having an excuse to hang out in your scraproom?

The crop will get underway on Friday, February 5th in the morning. Challenges and games will be posted all weekend. Can't scrap that weekend? No worries! The deadline for posting your creations is not until February 18th! That's right, you will have almost 2 weeks to qualify for the Grand Prize Drawing! Prize? Yep, you heard me right! The Grand Prize is a brand new March Kit and a goodie bag of fun stuff that Brenna & Sherry picked up at CHA!

This is my very first Dixie Pieces assignment and I must say that these kits are jam packed with everything you need to create multiple layouts and projects! Valentine's Day - early

Nothing like waiting until the last minute to take your camera to get it serviced before the warranty runs out! I just found out the my warranty runs out on February 1st - not the 28th like I had originally thought. I was also told that it would take about 1 - 2 weeks to send my camera in and have it cleaned and serviced. Today when I called I found out that it would be 6 - 8 weeks!!! You have got to be kidding me??? Their is no way I could be without my camera for that length of time. I have way too many assignments due over the next 6 weeks.
After being in much distress (DH said it was a walleyed temper tantrum) my sweet husband brought this home as an early Valentine's Day present!


I have been wanting a video camera for some time now so that I could start doing my own tutorials both scrapping and farm related (see our Farm Blog). How does this solve my camera problem? This thing also takes still pictures! I guess I am the only one in the world that did not know that these digital video cameras take still photos LOL

After playing around with it some tonight before fully charging the battery, we took a few test pictures and video and let me tell ya - I think this is going to be one handy dandy little camera/video!

Sketch Challenge at P K Glitz

P K Glitz has an awesome sketch challenge for the month of January!

Janelle (owner of P K Glitz) is very new to sketches and when I presented this card sketch to her she teasingly asked, “Do I have to use a chicken?” The answer is “No, and besides it’s a Love Bird”. Bottom line, the overall card is a pattern and you can insert a “heart” with a Valentine sentiment, a “flower” with a Happy Birthday sentiment, etc., etc., you get the idea. With that said, we will have a Sketch for you each month to play with. If you are a member of Club Glitz then you get a head start on this challenge.

P K Glitz Design Team Search

I wanted to let all of you know that P K Glitz is looking to add 2 designers to their team. I love being a part of P K Glitz and everyone is so much fun to work with so give it a try!

Here are the details:

P K Glitz, Inc. is currently looking to add 2 additional designers to our Team! We are searching for talented, enthusiastic, motivated and responsible ladies to create layouts, cards & projects with our P K Glitz products! The three-month term will start February 15, 2010 with the first projects due by March 1, 2010! International applicants will be considered; however, shipping costs will be shared.

Designer’s job:
- Design at least 2 layouts and 2 cards and/or altered project each month for the blog using your P K Glitz Design Team package. (An assignment schedule will be issued to each designer)
- Create additional designs to add to the website gallery every month
- Promote P K Glitz on your blog, facebook and other online sites as allowed
- Participate in contests, and challenges as scheduled

The Perks:
- $50 per month in P K Glitz products of your choice ($150 in product for 3/mo agreement)
- Bio up on website
-Your blog will be added to our designer’s blog list

- 2 layouts, 2 cards and an altered item that show your style and how you can creatively use artist glitters and embossing powders. Designs do not have to be newly created and do not have to use P K Glitz products.

Scrapbook Expo - Costa Mesa, CA

It was sort of a last minute request, but plans had changed and I was asked to fly to Costa Mesa, CA to help work the P K Glitz booth in Costa Mesa, CA. We had been experiencing record low temperatures here in Texas and when asked if I could fly to sunny southern California for the weekend, well..... it took me at least 2 seconds, maybe 3 to say "Yes!" LOL
When I arrived out there it had been raining the previous day so the weather was a little damp but at least in the high 60's or low 70's - I can live with that! I didn't take my camera with me but I thought I would try and get a few pictures with my cell phone.

Palm Trees can only mean one thing to me - "warm weather"!

I was told that this is Saddleback Mountain. We saw it from the parking lot every day. Mountains are not a common site for me here in central Texas :)

And here are more Palm trees around the fairgrounds where the Scrapbook Expo was taking place.

Note to self: Do NOT try and use the cell phone in lieu of my DSLR....

I had a wonderful time at the show and on Sunday - shortly before I had to leave to go back to the airport - I met up with an online friend from Dixie Pieces. Christine came by and she had her camera so this is the only decent picture I have from the whole weekend.

The Quick Quotes booth was right across from us and they needed to take one of their instructors back to the airport at the same time I needed to go so Stacy offered to take me when they went. If you haven't been acquainted with Quick Quotes - you need to be! Their kits are fabulous and the girls are just the sweetest!

Now it is back to reality and I have a lot of projects to start working on with short deadlines. See you in a few days!

Calendar in a Box

2010 is well under way and I hope to bring you many exciting projects for you this year! To start off I want to show you this cute calendar box. I also think this would be a cute birthday gift - kinda like a gift and card combo. Instead of the calendar you could put birthday wishes and the drawer could hold the gift. Wouldn't that be cute?
